Welcome to the Leicester Hiking & Hostelling Group, a friendly walking, hostelling and hiking group based in Leicester. 

Whilst we are open to all age groups, our ages range from mid-forties upwards.  We enjoy walking and hiking weekends throughout the UK and occasional city breaks in the UK and Europe.  Our group is a wonderful way to meet new people and make new friends whilst enjoying the wonderful British countryside.

Our day walks, ranging from between 5 – 10 miles, are an ideal way to enjoy the great outdoors and meet new people.  We also hold a monthly social at The Black Horse, Braunstone Gate from 8pm onwards on the first Tuesday of every month.  An opportunity to meet and chat to just a small number of our group members and find out more about the events and walking mini-breaks that we hold.

Our walking club has its origins in the Youth Hostel Association (YHA), so walking weekends are a key part of what we do.  Our hikes, whether day walks or part of a mini-break, can range from long and mountainous to short and gentle.  Some members of our walking group also enjoy sightseeing, whilst others take the opportunity to go cycling.

We stay in a variety of accommodation.  As part of the YHA we used to choose hostels as our accommodation of choice.  Now we often use AirBnBs, budget hotels and bunkhouses as well as hostels.
